The company will exhibit 17 machines in its 1,000 m2 stand
Indústrias Romi, the leading Brazilian manufacturer of machine tools and machinery for plastics has prepared several machine launches in the market during the 12th International Machine Tool and Integrated Manufacturing Systems Trade Fair (Feimafe), which will take place from May 18 to 23 at Parque Anhembi, in São Paulo.
“Romi has quite an optimistic expectation and while playing its lead role in the industry the company will exhibit several novelties for the metal mechanic industry at Feimafe”, says the company’s sales director for machine tools, Hermes Lago. According to him, the results achieved by Romi at the 2009 Brasilplast (International Plastic Industry) Trade Fair, which took place at the beginning of last month, showed that little by little companies are again investing in renewing machinery. “We believe companies will take advantage of the good opportunities offered by the fair to undertake investments”, concludes Lago.
The company, increasingly growing its product portfolio, is launching bigger machines, faster and flexible, that significantly increase the productivity and profitability of client companies, allowing the manufacture of bigger parts for sectors such as infrastructure for example.
Among the launches, Lago highlights the Romi VT 1400 vertical lathe. Romi, satisfying strong market demand, offers an entire state-of-the art generation of CNC vertical lathes. These are machines with robust mechanical structures that offer great versatility in machining processes for a variety of large-size part types, such as, for example, rings, valve bodies, bushings, flanges, covers, etc. The Romi VT line comprises the Romi VT 1400, Romi VT 2000, Romi VT 2500, Romi VT 3000, Romi VT 4000 and Romi VT 5000 lathes that turn parts with diameters of up to 6,000 mm and 50 tons.
At the Feimafe Trade Fair, Romi is also launching the Centur 40 lathe, expanding the Centur series, which until now consisted of the Centur 30D, Centur 35D, Centur 50, Centur 80, Centur 140 and Centur 180 models, providing the market a new size option. This machine is offered in the traditional version or supplied with the Multiplic kit, which allows to use it both in the automatic mode, as is customary, or in the “teach in” mode, in which the operator works in a manner similar to that of a manual lathe, with the major advantage of relying on the CNC to perform more complex tasks.
Another novelty is the Romi GL 280M Turning Center, designed to operate in medium-to-high-volume production companies. This version has the activated tool feature, which allows the operator to perform both lathing and milling operations. “It is quite a versatile equipment that in milling, boring and threading operations allows alternating between sequences of lathing and milling. Thus, a part comes out finished, without the need for further processing in another machine”, says Lago.
For the first time at a trade fair, Romi will exhibit the Centur 80 lathe, a heavy machine of a new generation launched in 2007, to meet the demand of the infrastructure sector. The equipment weighs 30 tons and has the capacity to machine parts of up to 22 tons. It is mainly used in base industries, such as oil and gas, energy, steel and shipbuilding, and in ethanol and sugar plants, in the manufacture of large-size parts.
“Three years ago, Romi developed a portfolio diversification strategy to supply to the infrastructure sector, which continues operating in high gear. In order to meet the demand this year we inaugurated a new large-size equipment manufacturing plant”, says Lago.
At the Feimafe Trade Fair, Romi will have a 1,000 m2 stand, in which it will exhibit a total of 17 machines. Eight of the company’s machines will be displayed in the stands of Senai, Brasília Máquinas, Marposs and Systec Metalúrgica.
