The American Institutional Investor Magazine stands out Romi executive as one of the best CEOs of Brazilian companies
Romi’s CEO, Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos, received an important recognition of the North American publication Institutional Investor Magazine (http://www.iimagazine.com). He was elected the fourth best CEO of Brazilian companies that joined categories of industrial, transport and air sectors. Among the first four companies Romi is the only one of the industrial sector.
This was the second edition of the ranking that elects the best CEOs and Directors of companies performing in Brazil. Established for more than 50 years, Institutional Investor Magazine is one of the main literature directed to the investors around the whole world. Today the magazine runs off a printing of 130 thousand copies, separated in two publication – the international one and the other one applied to Americas.
The research was based on inquiries with top managements of approximately 200 Brazilian and foreign institutions that chose the best CEOs, CFOs and companies considered “shareholder-friendly” and that are transparent with the investors in each one of the nine investigated sectors.
Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos was named CEO by Romi Board of Directors, in August of 2007, to take the position which was previously held by Américo Emílio Romi Neto, which still remains as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Santos’ election integrated a set of measures to strengthen the practices of corporate governance adopted by the company, which is the Brazilian leader in production of machine-tools and injection molding machines and is member of São Paulo Stock Exchange - New Market (Novo Mercado da Bovespa).
Among his actions in Romi, Santos managed, in 2008, the acquisition of the assets of Sandretto, an Italian manufacturer of plastic injection molding machines, putting Romi into the select list of Brazilian companies with industrial operation out of the country. He also implemented innovations in the management, with the introduction of the Lean Six Sigma methodology, a tool introduced with the purpose to improve the organizational performance, and a human resource motivational program to the formation of new leadership in the company.
Santos is 55 years old, Mechanical Engineering graduated from State University of Campinas, SP – UNICAMP and Business Management post-graduated from GE Corporate University, of Crottonville (NY), USA. His professional experience includes 15 years of performance in top management positions inside companies of engineering, capital goods and logistics areas.
