Industrial equipment manufacturing company has been supporting Senai’s educational activities for over 50 years

Romi is the Brazilian leader in the field of machine tools and plastic injection molding machines, and participates actively in the biggest national event for the promotion and incentive of professional education in Brazil: the Knowledge Olympic Games, a competition dedicated to students of Senai Schools. Romi’s participation involves sponsoring the initiative by providing equipment manufactured by the company to be used in the technical competitions in Blumenau and Porto Alegre.

“The Olympic Games is a very important initiative for the professional education, because it enhances the student skills, besides developing and strengthening the education quality of the courses, which has always been the major goal of all initiatives taken by Senai”, says André Romi, Romi’s institutional relations manager. The company keeps a relationship of over 50 years with Senai.

The support to the event includes providing equipment to be used in two modalities of the Olympic Games technical competitions. “We are providing five vertical machining centers Discovery 560 for the lathe turning jobs with CNC and three plastic injection molding machines Primax 150 - for the plastic technology jobs”, tells Romi.

The first stage of the Olympic Games was held in June in Blumenau and the second will occur from July 23 to 27 in the Exposition Center of the Industry Federation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Centro de Exposição da Federação das Indústrias do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul - Fiergs). Romi will further have an exclusive booth to show its recently released lathe Centur 30D equipped with the optional Multiplic kit, which allows the use of the lathe in both automatic mode – more usual – and “teach in” mode for manual lathe turning. “This mode allows the student to work in a way similar to a manual lathe, with the great advantage of relying upon the help of the CNC to perform tasks of higher complexity. It is a very appropriate machine for professional technical education”, says Hermes Lago, machine-tool marketing director.
