Romi will build up two new plants in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste

The company will invest R$ 230 millions in a new foundry and in a molten pieces grinding unit, with a perspective of generating 700 direct workplaces



 


Indústrias Romi S.A., national leader in the production of plastic machinery-tools and injection has decided to install two new industrial units in the county of Santa Bárbara d´Oeste (SP), where it already owns nine industrial plants. The company will build up a foundry and a molten pieces grinding unit investing a total of R$ 230 millions up to 2011.


“Notwithstanding the company owning its industrial units in the county, the fact the Municipality have included our company in the Development Incentive Program has contributed to our decision for the location of this new investment. It make feasible to build up the two new plants in Santa Bárbara d´Oeste”, says Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos, President of Romi.


Such new investment, announced in October, 2007, didn’t have its location defined until now, will duplicate the production capacity of molten and grinded pieces of the company, which currently is of 40 thousands T per year. Approximately R$ 110 millions will be invested in the foundry and R$ 120 millions in the grinding, using its own resources and financings to be contracted. The project, which objective is to raise the production for the internal and external markets will be materialize in stages, between 2008 and 2011, and we expect to create 700 direct workplaces and 350 indirect workplaces.


In addition, Romi will invest more R$ 160 millions up to 2011, in the same county of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, in the enlargement of industrial plants for increasing the production of machinery-tools and machinery for processing plastics. The first stage of such expansion, which total investment is of R$ 210 millions, has already been started in the second quarter of 2006. Apart of enlarging in 30% the Industrial Unit 15 (UF16) capacity, the works have the objective of concentrate the entire production in one unique location. At the end of the project, which should create up to 700 direct workplaces and 600 indirect workplaces, apart from those related to the foundry and grinding, the manufacturing capacity of industrial machinery by Romi should raise from the current 2,900 to approximately 4,800 in 2011.
